Roman Catholic Diocese of Manchester

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Manchester (''Diocensis Manchesteriensis''〔[http://www.catholic-hierarchy.org/diocese/dmanc.html Manchester (Diocese) [Catholic-Hierarchy]]〕 in Latin) is a diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in the region of New England in the United States comprising the entire state of New Hampshire. It is located within the Province of Boston, and its bishop is a member of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
It is led by a prelate bishop who serves as pastor of the mother church, the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Manchester. The diocese consists of approximately 280 priests, 51 deacons, and 327,600 Catholic faithful in New Hampshire.
The Diocese of Manchester was canonically erected on April 15, 1884 by Pope Leo XIII. Its territories were taken from the Diocese of Portland in the neighboring state of Maine.
